GT3 aerodynamic package
Conceptual design and aerodynamic optimization of a complete aero package for a GT3-regulation fastback vehicle, including front splitter, dive planes, front diffuser, rear diffuser and rear wing, targeting increased downforce, reduced drag and improved aerodynamic balance.
Method
The design process was grounded in aerodynamic theory and literature, analysing the flow interactions between components — splitter–diffuser coupling, rear wing–underbody interaction — and exploiting the regulatory constraints to maximize performance rather than treating them purely as limits.
Key design parameters were evaluated including splitter length, diffuser expansion ratio, and wing geometry (span, chord and angle of attack). The profile selected was a Wortmann FX 63-137, chosen on aerodynamic efficiency with L/D = 61 at Re = 10⁵.

Further devices were incorporated to enhance flow attachment and energy recovery: Gurney flaps at 2% chord, vortex generators, and multi-vane diffuser configurations.
